In this episode I talk about wanting to get away from the winter cold of New York City. The airline I worked for had flights to The Bahamas and I took full advantage. As an adjunct to me getting away from the northeast winter wonderland, I came across a nice young lady who helped me take this short trip to a different level.
This episode is about my first international trip...to Dakar Senegal. It is actually about my first two internationals trips as I will explain in the podcast. In this episode I talk about my first international airport expericance, my first time uttering words in a foreign language and my first international fling.
In 1983 I wanted to get away, but stay close to home, be on my own, but stay tethereed, throw caution to the wind, but only if the wind was created by a fan. So at the ripe old age of 19 I venture to Western New York to Niagara Falls...to go to college.
The church that my mother attended had a camp in the Catskills Mountains in New York. For three summers our family made the hours long journey for a repreve from city life. In this episode I talke about two events that are still etched in my memory some 50 years later. The stories of these events are told with humor, sarcasm, and sprinkled with smidge of meloncholy. I hope you enjoy.
In episode 1, I will take you to a sometimes scary place; my mind. We will go on a journey through my young mind and explore how the simple and mundane fascinated me if it had anything to do with travel. We will also journey to Miami, Florida for Christmas Holiday with family.
